Owned by British Airways, this giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames in London is known as the London Eye. Opened by Prime Minister Tony Blair, on 31 December 1999, it is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom. By 2008 it was announced that 30 million people had ridden the Eye since it opened.
